The tenth edition of the World Humor Awards, the international humorous drawing competition in the “Cartoon” section, explores this year the theme “How the World Turns.” This fascinating theme lends itself to multiple interpretations. We can think about the physical rotation of our planet, the social changes that transform our societies, the diverse cultural perspectives that characterize the human experience in every corner of the globe.
“How the World Turns” invites us to reflect on the cycles of history, the power dynamics that determine how our world functions, and the environmental changes that influence the balance of the planet. Our competition is aimed at artists of all nationalities and backgrounds: cartoonists, illustrators, comic artists, and graphic humorists are called to share their unique vision through the lens of humor.
We are looking for works that can make people smile but also reflect, that can speak a universal language while maintaining a distinctive and personal voice.
In the “Caricature” section, “six characters in search of an author” from politics, sports, and entertainment return: “Elon Musk – Giorgia Meloni – Tadej Pogačar – Lucia Rijker – Tim Roth – Whoopi Goldberg.” Artists are invited to choose and portray one or two subjects from these for the competition.
Our goal is to celebrate humor as a universal language, capable of overcoming cultural and linguistic barriers. In an increasingly divided world, we believe that laughter can unite, and that through humorous drawing we can find common ground for mutual understanding and appreciation.
